Sun Agro Biotech Research Centre (SABRC) was established on 1st October, 2000, with a mission to provide a high quality and reliable research and to offer testing service in the field of Agri-focus Biotechnology and Eco-friendly crop protection/production. It is a non-government and non-profit research organization and registered as a Scientific Society under the Tamil Nadu Societies Act.
Recognition by government of India: It has been recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO,) Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India (GOI), from 1st August 2003 onwards.
A government Board, with eminent members from a cross section of professions, manages the activities of SABRC. It is currently headed by the president Dr. S. Sithanantham, an International expert in entomologist
It comprises of invited experts who periodically provide guidance to the research programs of the centre. It is currently chaired by Pro. M.S. Venugopal, former Professor of Entomology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore
To undertake and promote scientific research through biotechnology, with specific emphasis on biocontrol agents, biopesticides, biofertilizers and bio-inputs. To facilitate extension of knowledge in the field of biosciences to the stake holders.
